This website displays some of my work in all different kinds of photography. My days are spent photographing different kinds of assignments most of which involve photographing people including editorial, corporate, music and wedding photography. All of this work comes out of the photojournalist tradition. In between these assignments I like to go out with a panoramic camera and make landscapes and cityscapes to relax.This website pulls everything together to see how they hang together. Bio is below.
Daniel Sheehan is a Pulitzer prize-winning photographer specializing in photojournalism, portraits, panoramas, and weddings. He has been a photojournalist for over 30 years covering a wide range of events from war in Afghanistan, conflict in Haiti, the breakup of the Soviet Union, the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993, fashion shows in London, Paris and Milan and a couple of Super Bowls.
Daniel was raised in Brooklyn, NY, graduated with a BA from the City University of N.Y. and studied photography at Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, NY. As a Peace Corps volunteer, Daniel taught photography for 3 years at the Institute Technology Mara, in Malaysia. He returned to Ohio University for graduate work in International Affairs and Journalism. After getting his degree, he worked as staff photographer for The Tampa Tribune, the Florida Times Union and New York Newsday where he worked for 10 years.
In 1985 he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the famine in Ethiopia and was nominated again in 1989 for his photographs of the war in Afghanistan and a devastating earthquake in Armenia. Daniel was on a team of colleagues who were honored when they won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for local news for their coverage of the fatal crash of a New York City subway train. His photography has been recognized with awards from the Society of the Silurians, the Florida and NY State AP Associations and the National Press Photographers Association.
Daniel’s photographs have appeared in publications such as Asian Week, National Geographic, Time, Newsweek, Business Week, Forbes, House & Garden, Sports Illustrated, People Magazine, Playboy and The New York Times. Corporate clients include Amazon, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Expedia, Getty Images, Microsoft, Safeco, Starbucks, and Wells Fargo Bank.
Daniel has served on the Board of Trustee of the Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) offering guidance from the perspective of a working photojournalist. Daniel is married and lives with his wife Jana and daughters Ema and Claire in Seattle, Washington.

He creates photographs in both the digital and film mediums for editorial photography and corporate photography and is comfortable shooting in a studio, on location, or if necessary setting up an impromptu studio at a location. His photography often uses the narrative or story-telling approach. He produces compelling narrative photographs with a distinctive artistic edge. Often available for editorial and corporate assignments at the last minute, Daniel is able to produce digital images and turn them around in the same day under extremely urgent delivery requirements.
