The pies above were all home made and were wonderful.
A view of the the visually stunning courtyard of the Novelty Hill – Januik Winery in Woodinville, Washington in the rain on August 7th just as Patrick Danaher and Sarah Baxter were starting to get ready for their wedding. There was hope early on that it would clear up in time for the planned outdoor ceremony. The odds of it clearing up in time did not look good when I first arrived and indeed it never did improve. The funny thing was Sarah and Patrick took it in stride and did not seem the least let down by the fact that all their plans were going to have to change.
It turned out that Novelty Hill – Januik Winery always has a good backup plan in case of rain. One more word about the winery. Novelty Hill Januik has award winning architecture, cited for its merging of hospitality and production, and indoors and outdoors, even helping to preserve the adjacent wetland. It has graphically bold lines in concrete, steel, glass and wood and is a wonderful location for a wedding with it various choices for background even if it rains and you are limited to the interior spaces it was still a delightful place to make photographs. One reason is the abundance of skylights which let in a lot of daylight in on an overcast drizzly day. At the bottom of this post is a slideshow of all of the highlights. The table place tags lined up.
Sarah and Patrick are an amazing couple for a number of different reasons including their humor, their talents intelligence and good will.
The ceremony was marked by emotion; it was funny and touching at times. What struck me and stays with me the most is the intensity of their love.
The architecture is not the only attraction of Novelty Hill – Januik Winery, The food, service and wine (it is one of the best wineries in Washington State) is world class.
Sarah and Patrick were without a doubt one of the best wedding couples on the dance floor I have ever photographed. They were simply amazing to watch move around the dance floor from their first to their last dance. Can’t you feel their enthusiasm?
The band that Sarah and Patrick had playing for them was the incredible Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao with Thomas Marriott on trumpet. Man they can play salsa.
