I was commissioned to photograph another beautiful house by architect Jill Lewis. this time it was a house in Portland, OR. Once again it was a house I felt comfortable in right away. Here are some of the pictures of it at different times of day. At the bottom of the post is a slide show of all 13 images.

OLYMPIC ATHLETIC CLUB

November 6th, 2010

For some time I have had an interest in photographing neon signs. In New York’s Times Square and in Las Vegas on the various casinos,  neon lighting has been raised to a high art form. So I was happy to be asked on a recent assignment from the Olympic Athletic Club to photograph the exterior of their building and capture the neon sign of a diver extending high up above the top of their roof above the entrance to their parking garage. Note the red light from the clock merge with the blue light to form shades of magenta on the wall of the Club.

I just found out that the July/August issue of  Seattle Homes & Lifestyles Magazine is running my architectural photography of the Madrona Modern home I photographed for Seattle interior designer Robin Chell of Robin Chell Design and  architects David Bennett and Kim Lavacot of Bennett Lavacot Architecture. In fact they have chosen the above picture for the cover of the magazine. It was a beautiful and sophisticated house to photograph with a quiet, simple elegance. Architectural photography by Seattle photographer Daniel Sheehan, who creates architectural photography and portrait photography for publications and Seattle Wedding Photography with an artistic photojournalist style.

Today is the first day of June and the opening of an exhibition of a dozen panoramic urban landscapes at SRG Gallery in Seattle. I will publish some of them here over the course of the exhibition which will be up until the end of July. This first one was taken in New York City in January 2010. I love the view of Times Square from the air. Later on I will publish the panorama I took at ground level in Times Square. Other pictures were taken in Seattle, Paris and Prague.
SRG Gallery is located at 110 Union Street, Suite 300, Seattle across the street from the Seattle Art Museum. Photography by Daniel Sheehan who creates photographic solutions for publications and corporations and a Seattle Wedding Photographer with an artistic photojournalist style.

Recently I made some photographs of a residence in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle for the new website of Bennett Lavacot Architecture. The interior design was by Robin Chell Design. The owners of the house was thinking of moving to a new house they were going to build and were in discussion for the new design. After a fire destroyed some of the old house they were persuaded to rebuild on the same lot and this wonderful home was the result of the work of David and Kim of Bennett Lavacot Architecture and the owners of the property.

The first floor has this great open floor plan from the front where the living room through the dining room to the kitchen which opens into a private courtyard.

A marvelous detail of the fireplace.

The first floor powder room.

Stairs going up the the second level.

Above two images are from the master suite bathroom .
Below are two photos showing the private interior courtyard behind the kitchen, top and bottom off the media room. All in all a great place in a beautiful neighborhood.

I had the chance to again work with Seattle interior designer Robin Chell of Robin Chell Design, this time photographing a lobby of an apartment building in Redmond, Washington. It was a difficult space to shoot. It had a compact floor plan but extended up three stories. In the photo here I resorted to shooting a number of vertical exposures and then stitching them together in photoshop into one photo.
The barrel distortion was inevitable but I like the way it shows the space without resorting to a fisheye lens.

There is something so magical that happens after dark when you turn on the lights and balance the nightime sky with the interior lighting.
This is the exterior of the house on Sunset Hill which has the view of the Olympics and Puget sound from the bedroom and the outside terrance on the top floor which you can see to the left. This is the last photographs from the shoot of Seatle homes for the Seattle interior designer Robin Chell Design. Robin Chell Design provides complete residential and commercial interior design services, including design concept, space planning, interior specifications, furniture, finish and fixture selection, custom furniture design, art procurement, and lighting specification.
